A great day on the hill! A stalwart group of volunteers arrived to a rainy start, but sunshine arrived in time for the mid morning tea and cakes break!
A day’s hard work has transformed a large area of the slope by removing the scrub to allow the finer grasses to take over around the exposed crags and boulders – the perfect habitat for Grayling and Small Heath (incidentally, 29 butterfly species were recorded around North Hill in 2017, more diversity than seen on any other butterfly site around the Malverns).
Many thanks to a great group of volunteers: Mike, Peter, Derek, John, Dave, Jess, Nick, Dick, not forgetting my wife, Liz, crucially in charge of refreshments.
Don’t forget our NEXT WORK PARTY: Monday 12th February 2018 – meet at 10.00am at North Quarry Car Park (GR SO11846931 / post code WR14 4LT) – Mid morning refreshments and cakes available but bring your own lunch if you stay for the afternoon.
